Hello Grade 3 Basketball Families,
We are excited to finally get started with our first practice this Tuesday the 12th, and our first game this Saturday!
This season we hope that each player has a positive, holistically developmental experience, improves his basketball skills, and has fun! We will try to meet each player where he is, and help to instill values of sportsmanship, individual effort, and teamwork.
My family moved to Guilford a little over two years ago, and I was very excited to find the Guilford Basketball League here. Growing up in Indiana, basketball was a key sport (of course!) for me all through school. I began coaching several years ago, and it is one of THE most fun things I have ever done, a personal highlight each week. My experience with our league has been very positive, and I hope that you and your player experience the same this season.
We are fortunate to have John Parese as our Assistant Coach. He is a returning GBL parent volunteer as well, and has experience coaching both rec and travel teams. In fact, John will also be coaching two other teams this season!
Our team, 1 Navy, is comprised of six players, so each boy will have significant play time. To view our roster, log into the GBL website. The season runs through February 14.
Our weekly practice will be 6-7pm on Tuesdays at Calvin Leete Elementary School, 280 South Union Street. Youth sized basketballs will be provided at the gym for every player.
Our first game is this Saturday the 16th, 10:30-11:45 at Lakes Elementary School, 40 Maupas Road. The season's game times are posted on our team's portion of the GBL website, with additional games for the playoffs held in late January and into February. All games/Saturdays will be at Lakes Elementary School. During games we will need one parent to either run the scoreboard or keep the book. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping.
If any issues or concerns come up throughout the season, please do not hesitate to contact me (585-317-3401). Looking forward to a great season!
